THE ENDURANCE ... ESE Barquita

By: Zulma Escobar Gorocito

As we said in another article, in 1974 the English icebreaker HMS Endurance walked us visiting terrorists bringing weapons to the organization Montoneros (few trips made to that end, only God knows). But this raid was not the first nor the last. On other occasions he also traveled Argentine waters in violation of our sovereignty and dignity.
In 1970 the British government instructed the University of Birmingham studies on the possible existence of oil in the Falklands, to this end, and without permission from our government, the Endurance between 1971 and 1974 made several incursions into our seas . All this resulted in the Griffiths Report, which exist two versions: one officer, which of course was given to our country, in which there was no conflict for the relations between Argentina and the United Kingdom. The other report classified as secret and confidential was unique knowledge of the Foreign Office (Adolfo Silenzi Stagni, "the Falklands and the Oil")
Subsequently, in March 1982, Constantino Davidoff, Argentine businessman engaged in the business of scrap, who a few years earlier had purchased the abandoned whaling facilities South Georgia, took possession of them Argentine flag hoisted. As a result the Office Foreingn sent back to the Endurance with a lower order of our flag and prevent a landing. This situation led to a series of crosses between the two governments, which as we know ended up in the Falklands War.
After the war, the Endurance was used to house prisoners in Argentina.
On January 3, 1998, the same boat trying to moor in Puerto Belgrano, just on the anniversary of the British occupation of our islands in 1833, it revived the patriotic sentiment of various sectors of the population who resisted their landing.
However, in March 2006, thanks to the "skilled" diplomacy K, the emblematic Endurance Puerto Belgrano was able to reach and stay there for twenty days, making repairs.
You see, this boat is a symbol of English imperialism, and since the 70's strolling through our seas, in violation of our sovereignty, transporting weapons to the guerrillas, making reports, threatening Argentine workers, and turned into a prison of our soldiers could continue to fulfill its colonial services with the consent of those who now pose as anti-imperialist.
